Rockingham Radio is a subsidiary of Rockingham Media CIC (Community Interest Company).
The idea for a Community Radio station, local to the Dearne Valley came from Annabelle Vernon, having spent
many years as a presenter on Manchester Community Radio station; All FM.
In late 2019, Shaun Bennett joined as Station Director and together they developed the idea, launching the station
on the 1st of May 2020.
Rockingham Radio has been set up with a mission statement to educate, enhance and entertain the community
of the Dearne Valley and the world beyond. Shows are currently presented by a large, dedicated team of presenters, writing and producing shows from home, delighting and entertaining a growing band of listeners.
We have lots of ideas for the future of Rockingham Radio, both online and working within the community, we hope
you’ll join us on our exciting journey.
Shaun is a director of Rockingham Media. Joining initially, to help project manage and accelerate the roll-out, but quickly saw the potential impact it could make and committed so much more than the initial few hours per week. Having been a Special Constable and worked with the Army Cadet Force, Shaun is no stranger to helping others and giving support at a community level.
His current shows demonstrate his contrasting musical tastes as Shaun presents ‘Slow Down Saturday’ (and Sunday) with music to get you in the mood for relaxing and chilling out from the midday madness and he is also working on a couple of special feature shows that will appear in coming weekend slots
Shaun is also a qualified and permitted drone pilot and has his own business offering a range of drone related services called Digital Perspective
Robert is a Director of Rockingham Media. Joining initially as a radio presenter, he quickly got involved in several projects and assisting in the running of the Radio Station. Having many years Managerial experience, working Globally in the online Gaming industry, he has lots of experience in development and project work.
His current Radio show is the result of a lifetime passion for Rock and Blues music. He is currently working on several ideas for new shows and developing his interviewing skills.
Due to work commitments, Robert is currently based in Malta. He is a passionate Yorkshireman and is thrilled to be part of a project to benefit the people of the Dearne Valley and beyond. He has his own website samuelpeeps.
